Fic Homework with an update and a little explanation of this last, nearly fic-less year -- 9/6/15

I know it’s just fic and real life comes first, but I thought I’d explain a little about what real life has been like so you understand why I’ve been away because I owe you all that. This year, I lost an aunt and, being the codependent person I am with my giant family, dealt with a lot of the grunt work around her life and her large social media presence and with the family fighting over everything. On top, my uncle who is my only relative in California and who I’m almost as close to as my father, leaned on me for a lot during that time and he’s also dealing with cancer. We’ve leaned on each other, but the to-do list is a bit higher on my side. LOL. I also sing full-time, between restaurants and senior homes and private parties, so there’s that taking up my time.

It’s just hard to wrap my mind around escaping into fic when things like that are going on. To be honest, I’ve had a hard time with fic ever since my cousin passed away in 2009, almost feeling guilty about jumping into fic, yet also guilty about having all this fic to finish and leaving readers hanging. Guilt and stress are not the most inspiring of emotions and most of the writing I’ve been doing is for other outlets, just dry entertainment coverage and nothing that involves plotting or escaping into other worlds. I’ve also made a few vids for secret gift exchanges because it seems easier to do, having a kind of dry process. I don’t know why those have come easier to me than fic, possibly because there’s a set process and both are more about putting things that exist in order or perspective, rather than having to come up with your own story.

Regardless, I enjoy fic and enjoy writing and I should be making time for things I enjoy and time to finish what I started. So I am going to try to make these next months as consistent as possible with fic and updates and I thank you for your patience while I’ve been getting through this year and really, the ones before it. Here’s hoping I’ll be finished all my fics in the next few months so I can archive them somewhere secure (looking at Ao3) and move on to writing original romances.

For now, I'm concentrating on fic, so here's the revamped homework with a more realistic timeline as far as fitting it into my daily life.

Now some replies I missed in general :

Honey, I thought I knew how it is to have a busy life, but now was I finishing getting MA degree and I'm starting to work, I know how it really is.
So I am not mad at you for not posting. I will just keep waiting patiently for the next chapter on anything since I read everything lol or am about to read.
You inspired me though to fix Lexana and now I don;t know when I will find enough time to do that properly, but hey, if you can, I can, too!

You infected me with the Chlark bag! I swear you did! I just love them together so much! And I love the way you write them. Chllolie, Chimmy, it always seemed like settling and Clark doesn't really work with Lois. I know it's Superman canon, but I love Chloe so much more with him. I love Lois too, but as a separate character.
Anyway, I just thought I shared with the video I just made of Chlark (I think it's worth checking out and I made it because you inspired me:)) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifs5gELxe4U

Heh. Loved the lines about "really bad chocolate" and Clark not being a joiner.

It's fascinating how they're veering between flirtatious and almost adversarial, and kind of talking past/misunderstanding each other--makes for an interesting dynamic. I presume we'll see them finally getting on the same page in the next chapter. :-)
EEEEEEEE! That is all.

Okay, this is my second time trying to leave a comment!

I loved it, so amazing. I'm thrilled to see an update to this, and I can't wait to read the finale.

I love that the shoe of uncertainty and confusion and rejection was on her foot this time instead of Oliver. Of course he shouldn't be a jackass, but it was well written and in an understandable way.

I really hope you write more Chlollie when this fic is over.

Evil, evil dude, the way you left it there. OMG!!!! And I did love the way they went at it, the teasing, the misunderstanding, the friction and the disappointment.

The way they felt not quite right about wanting each other. Not that they can help it.

LOLOL!! Oh that was just a mess, and yet it seemed to fit them so well. FINALLY it's going to happen! You just love to tease your readers don't you. That's rhetorical. I know the answer.

That sounds like a lot to deal with--you have my sympathy. Further, you have my admiration, both for dealing with all of that and continuing with your fic. I'll wait as long as it takes for chapters to come out whenever you're able. I'm glad, though, that you said you do still enjoy writing; I'd be sad to see you continue solely out of a sense of commitment. But so long as it is something you still get some joy out of (and honestly, what writer experiences unmitigated pleasure in their work?!), I will look forward to each update no matter how long it takes.

Geez that feels a bit purple, but you get the idea :)

You poor thing. I really am sorry for what happened in your life and I hope next year will be so much better for you:*
As far as fics are concerned, gosh, was it really that long? I nearly can't believe it! I can't wait to read them all to the end, especially Chlex! Because even thouhI like Chloe with Clark and Lex with Lana , I so love all the attention Lex is getting from you (finally:p). I will just wait patiently!

Just wanted to leave a quick note- you mention doing NaNoWriMo this year and I hope that is working out for you! I think of how many times I have read and re-read many of your pieces, and I enjoy so much what you do with this world, that I am excited to see what you would do with a world of your own making. Whether you're doing NaNoWriMo or not, of course, I hope you are doing well. (and please forgive any typos as I'm trying to type this on my phone and it's being weird)

@Kristin: Thanks so much for the patience and for the sympathy. I really do want to get time and mindspace for fic, outside of the other writing I'm doing. I'm really going to try to make it work now and going into the new year. As for Nano, I didn't end up doing it properly. I just had too much else going on. But I did start tracking my writing with a chart. I'll have to post it here sometime, just to see what my patterns are. I really feel strongly about finishing the fic I have and then never doing more than one at a time ever again. LOL. Honestly, sometimes I think a lot of the problem is the intimidation involved with having 4 separate worlds to spin. If I can just get that fic down, I'll see about creating my own. Thanks so much for the lovely and supportive words.

@Trinity: Thanks so much. I am going to try to dedicate this week to updating OOTD and then I'm going to try to dig into Restless Nights for the finish. I am convinced that, if I can just get rid of one universe, the rest will be easier to manage. LOL. Let's see how I do.

Have you ever considered making a Chloe/Lana fic?:P

I never have. It's not one of my ships. But I do like writing them talking to each other like actual friends (something the show never got around to). LOL.
